‘දිට්වා’ සුළි කුණාටු තත්ත්වය හේතුවෙන් දැඩි ලෙස හානියට පත් වූ බදුළු ඔය සහ බත්මැඩිල්ල වාරි ව්යාපාරයන්ගේ ස්ථිර ප්රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතු 2026.06.03 දින නිල වශයෙන් ආරම්භ කෙරිණි.
සුළි කුණාටුව හේතුවෙන් මෙම වාරි පද්ධතිවලට දැඩි හානි සිදු වූ අතර, ඉන් අනතුරුව ගොවි ජනතාවගේ සහයෝගය සහ වාරිමාර්ග දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ අධීක්ෂණය යටතේ කෘෂිකාර්මික කටයුතු සඳහා තාවකාලිකව ජලය සැපයීමට පියවර ගෙන තිබුණි.
වාරි පද්ධතිවල අඛණ්ඩතාව සහ දිගුකාලීන කාර්යක්ෂමතාව තහවුරු කිරීමේ අරමුණින් රජය විසින් මෙම ස්ථිර ප්රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතු සඳහා රුපියල් මිලියන 454 ක් ප්රතිපාදන ප්රමාණයක් වෙන් කර ඇත. ඒ අනුව, ස්ථාන කිහිපයකින් බිඳී විනාශ වී තිබූ බදුළු ඔය වාරි ව්යාපාරය මෙම ව්යාපෘතිය ස්ථිරව ප්රතිසංස්කරණය කිරීම සඳහා රුපියල් මිලියන 324.43 ක මුදලක් වෙන් කර ඇති අතර, හානියට පත් බත්මැඩිල්ල වාරි ව්යුහයන් ස්ථිරව ප්රතිසංස්කරණය කිරීම සඳහා රුපියල් මිලියන 130.13 ක මුදලක් වෙන් කර ඇත.
වාරි යටිතල පහසුකම් නැවත ශක්තිමත් කරමින්, ප්රදේශයේ ගොවි ජනතාවගේ කෘෂිකාර්මික කටයුතු සඳහා දිගුකාලීන ස්ථාවර සහනයක් ලබාදීම මෙම මහඟු ව්යාපෘතියේ මූලික අරමුණයි.
මෙම ස්ථිර ප්රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතු කඩිනමින් අවසන් කර ගොවි ජනතාව අතට පත් කිරීමට වාරිමාර්ග දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සැලසුම් කර ඇත.මෙම අවස්ථාවට මහාසංඝරත්නය, ඌව පළාත් ගරු ආණ්ඩුකාරවර නීතිඥ කපිල ජයසේකර මැතිතුමා, වැවිලි සහ ප්රජා යටිතල පහසුකම් ගරු අමාත්ය සමන්ත විද්යාරත්න මහතා, තරුණ කටයුතු පිළිබඳ ගරු නියෝජ්ය අමාත්ය දිනිදු සමන් හෙන්නායක මහතා, බදුල්ල දිස්ත්රික් ගරු පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්රී සුදත් බලගල්ල මහතා, කන්දකැටිය ප්රාදේශීය සභාවේ ගරු සභාපතිතුමන්, වාරිමාර්ග දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ නිලධාරීන් සහ ප්රදේශයේ ගොවි ජනතාව ඇතුළු විශාල පිරිසක් එක්ව සිටියහ.
Permanent Restoration Work Begins on Badulu Oya and Bathmadilla Irrigation Schemes Damaged by Cyclone ‘Ditwa’!
The permanent restoration work on the Badulu Oya and Bathmadilla irrigation schemes, which were severely damaged by Cyclone ‘Ditwa,’ was officially launched on June 3, 2026.
The cyclone caused extensive damage to these irrigation systems, following which temporary measures were taken to supply water for agricultural activities, with the support of the farming community and under the supervision of the Department of Irrigation.
With the aim of ensuring the continuity and long-term efficiency of the irrigation systems, the government has allocated a total of Rs. 454 million for these permanent restoration works. Accordingly, Rs. 324.43 million has been set aside for the permanent restoration of the Badulu Oya Irrigation Scheme, which had been breached and destroyed at several locations, while Rs. 130.13 million has been allocated for the permanent restoration of the damaged Bathmadilla irrigation structures.
The primary objective of this significant project is to rebuild irrigation infrastructure and provide long-term, stable relief for the agricultural activities of the farming communities in the region.
The Department of Irrigation has planned to complete these permanent restoration works swiftly and hand them over to the farming community.
The occasion was attended by the Maha Sangha, Uva Province Governor Attorney-at-Law Kapila Jayasekara, Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure Samantha Vidyarathna, Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Dinidu Saman Hennayake, Badulla District Member of Parliament Sudath Balagalla, the Chairman of Kandaketiya Pradeshiya Sabha, officials of the Department of Irrigation, and a large gathering of farmers from the area.
