සිංහල හා හින්දු අලුත් අවුරුදු චාරිත්ර වාරිත්ර අතර සුවිශේෂී මංගල්යයක් ලෙස සැලකෙන හිසතෙල් ගෑමේ “ඌව පළාත් මහෝත්සවය” 2026.04.15 පෙරවරුවේ බදුල්ල ඓතිහාසික මුතියංගන රජමහා විහාරස්ථානයේදී අති උත්කර්ෂවත් අන්දමින් පැවැත්විණි.
පෙරවරු 6.54 ට යෙදුණු හිසතෙල් ගෑමේ සුබ නැකතට අනුව මෙම උත්සවය සංවිධානය කර තිබූ අතර, ඌව පළාත් සංස්කෘතික දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සහ පළාත් ආයුර්වේද දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව ඒකාබද්ධව මෙහි සංවිධාන කටයුතු මෙහෙයවන ලදී.
මුතියංගන රාජ මහා විහාරස්ථානාධිපති ආචාර්ය මුරුන්දෙනියේ ධම්මරතන හිමිපාණන්ගේ ශාසනික අනුශාසනාව ඇතිව මෙම මහෝත්සවය ආරම්භ කෙරිණි. හෙළ සිරිත් විරිත් හා ආයුර්වේද සම්ප්රදාය සහ බෞද්ධ සංස්කෘතිය ජනතාව අතරට ගෙන යාමේ ජාතික ව්යායාමයක් ලෙස මෙම උත්සවය හඳුනා ගත හැකිය. මෙම ජාතික ආයුර්වේද ක්රමවේදයේ සංස්කෘතික පුනර්ජීවයක් ලෙස සැලකෙන “හිසතෙල් ගෑමේ” ක්රමයට ශ්රී ලාංකීය ඉතිහාසයේ සහ ආරෝග්ය සංස්කෘතියේ ගැඹුරු වැදගත්කමක් හිමිව ඇත. ඌව පළාත් සභාව ජාතික උරුමයන් ආරක්ෂා කරමින් ජනතාව අතර ව්යාප්ත කිරීමේ ව්යායාමයෙහිලා නිරන්තරයෙන් කැපවී ඇත.
රාජ්ය නිලධාරීන් සහ මැති ඇමතිවරුන් රැසකගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් පැවැත්වුණු මෙම අවස්ථාවට ප්රධාන ආරාධිතයන් ලෙස: ඌව පළාත් ආණ්ඩුකාරවර නීතිඥ ජේ.එම්. කපිල ජයසේකර මැතිතුමා, වැවිලි සහ ප්රජා යටිතල පහසුකම් අමාත්ය සමන්ත විද්යාරත්න මැතිතුමා, තරුණ කටයුතු නියෝජ්ය අමාත්ය දිනිදු සමන් හෙන්නායක මැතිතුමා, බදුල්ල නගරාධිපති නන්දන හපුගොඩ මැතිතුමා ඇතුළු මහජන නියෝජිතයින් රැසක් ද, බදුල්ල දිස්ත්රික් ලේකම්තුමා, ඌව පළාත් ප්රධාන ලේකම්තුමිය ඇතුළු ඌව පළාත් සභාවේ නිලධාරීන් සහ ප්රදේශවාසී ජනතාව විශාල පිරිසක් ද එක්ව සිටියහ.
The “Uva Province Hair Oil Ceremony Grand Festival” — regarded as a distinguished celebration among the rituals and customs of the Sinhala and Hindu New Year — was held with great grandeur at the historic Muthiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya in Badulla on the morning of 15th April 2026.
The festival was organised in accordance with the auspicious moment for the hair oil ceremony, which fell at 6.54 a.m., and was jointly coordinated by the Uva Provincial Cultural Department and the Provincial Ayurveda Department.
The grand festival was inaugurated under the religious guidance of the Chief Incumbent of Muthiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya, Dr. Murundeniye Dhammaratana Thero. The event can be identified as a national endeavour to bring indigenous customs and traditions, Ayurvedic heritage, and Buddhist culture closer to the people. The practice of hair oil application — regarded as a cultural revival of this national Ayurvedic tradition — holds deep significance in Sri Lanka’s history and health culture. The Uva Provincial Council remains steadfastly committed to preserving national heritage and disseminating it among the people.
The ceremony was attended by a distinguished gathering of state officials and ministers. Chief guests included Uva Provincial Governor Attorney-at-Law J.M. Kapila Jayasekara, Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure Samantha Vidyaratne, Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Dinidu Saman Hennayake, Badulla Mayor Nandana Hapugoda, and a number of other public representatives, as well as the Badulla District Secretary, the Uva Provincial Chief Secretary, senior officials of the Uva Provincial Council, and a large number of residents from the area.
