සර්ව ආගමික වතාවන් පැවැත්වීමෙන් සහ රණ රුධිරයෙන් මව්බිම රකිමින් දිවි පිදූ රණවිරුවන්ට පිං පැමිණවීමෙන් ආරම්භ වූ මෙම සැමරුම් උත්සවයේ ආචාර පෙළපාලිය, තූර්ය වාදක කණ්ඩායම පෙරටු කරගනිමින් ශ්රී ලංකා යුධ හමුදාව, නාවික හමුදාව, ගුවන් හමුදාව, පොලිස් දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සහ සිවිල් ආරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව ඒකාබද්ධව සිදු කරන ලදී.
මෙහිදී සභාව ඇමතූ ඌව පළාත් ගරු ආණ්ඩුකාර නීතිඥ කපිල ජයසේකර මැතිතුමා ශ්රී ලංකාවේ උතුරු හා නැගෙනහිර පැවති දශක තුනක යුද ඉතිහාසය පිළිබඳව සිහිපත් කළේය. තිස් අවුරුදු දරුණු යුද්ධය අවසන් කරමින් රටට නිදහස සහ සාමය උදාකර දීම වෙනුවෙන් තම ජීවිත පරිත්යාග කළ වීරෝදාර රණවිරුවන්ගේ උදාර කැපකිරීම්වල වටිනාකම එතුමා සිය කතාවේදී විශේෂයෙන් අවධාරණය කර සිටියේය.
උත්සවය අවසානයේ ගරු ආණ්ඩුකාරතුමන් ඇතුළු සම්භාවනීය අමුත්තන් රණවිරු ස්මාරකය වෙත පුෂ්පෝපහාර දක්වා දිවිදුන් රණශූරයන්ට නිහඬ ගෞරවය පුදකළහ.
මෙම සුවිශේෂී අවස්ථාවට සර්ව ආගමික පූජකවරුන්, වැවිලි සහ ප්රජා යටිතල පහසුකම් ගරු අමාත්ය සමන්ත විද්යාරත්න මහතා, තරුණ කටයුතු ගරු නියෝජ්ය අමාත්ය දිනිදු සමන් හෙන්නායක මහතා, බදුල්ල දිස්ත්රික් ගරු පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්රී රවීන්ද්ර බණ්ඩාර මහතා, ඌව පළාත් ප්රධාන ලේකම්තුමිය ඇතුළු ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ නිලධාරීන්, ත්රිවිධ හමුදා සහ පොලිස් ප්රධානීන් සහ නිලධාරීන් මෙන්ම දිවිදුන් රණවිරුවන්ගේ ආදරණීය මව්වරුන්, පියවරුන් සහ දරුවන් ඇතුළු විශාල පිරිසක් එක්ව සහභාගී වූහ.
The Uva Province Veterans’ Day Commemoration was held with great honour and success today (2026.05.15) under the patronage of Uva Province Governor Attorney-at-Law Kapila Jayasekara, at the grounds of the Badulla War Heroes’ Memorial.
The commemoration ceremony commenced with multi-religious observances and the offering of merits to the war heroes who sacrificed their lives defending the motherland with their blood. The guard of honour parade was led by the military band, with the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, Air Force, Police Department, and Civil Security Department participating jointly.
Addressing the gathering, Uva Province Governor Attorney-at-Law Kapila Jayasekara reflected on the three decades of armed conflict that prevailed in the North and East of Sri Lanka. In his address, he particularly emphasised the immense value of the noble sacrifices made by the gallant war heroes who laid down their lives to bring an end to the brutal thirty-year war and to secure freedom and peace for the nation.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Governor and other distinguished guests paid floral tributes at the War Heroes’ Memorial and observed a moment of silence in honour of those who gave their lives for the country.
The occasion was attended by multi-religious clergy, Minister of Plantations and Community Infrastructure Hon. Samantha Vidyaratne, Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Hon. Dinidu Saman Hennayake, Badulla District Member of Parliament Hon. Ravindra Bandara, the Uva Province Chief Secretary along with senior provincial officials, tri-forces and police commanders and officers, as well as a large gathering including the beloved mothers, fathers, and children of the fallen war heroes.
